Varieties of portable refrigerators

When choosing a portable refrigerator, you need to pay attention to the cooling technology and the convenience of the unit for transportation. Both of these factors are equally important. According to the type of cooling, refrigerators are divided into thermoelectric, absorption, compression.

The most common is the compression type of refrigerator. These include almost all stationary options. They function due to the refrigerant (ammonia, freons, SF6, etc.), which passes from a liquid state to a gaseous one. As a result of this process, a sufficiently quick cooling of the products occurs. Compression refrigerators can be of different sizes. They are economical. Some models can remain cold for a long time without being connected to the network.

The disadvantage of compression refrigerators is their inability to carry and low impact resistance. There are many compact single-chamber refrigerators of this type, but they are more suitable for storing a small amount of food than for their transportation. Rather, it is a summer cottage option. Nevertheless, some companies produce portable compression refrigerators, capacious (about 50 liters) and convenient for transportation, but they are expensive (somewhere around 40 thousand rubles).

Absorption refrigerators operate on a water-ammonia solution, heated from an electric or gas source. Due to this, the refrigerant circulates. The main advantage of such refrigerators is that they can work for a long time without connecting to a network. However, it must be borne in mind that absorption refrigerators are sensitive to tilting due to the liquid components contained in them. In general, this type of refrigerator is not cheap (13-60 thousand rubles). The most affordable models include DC models. The most expensive are refrigerators operating both from the network and from gas cylinders.

Thermoelectric refrigerators, despite their high energy costs, are the most convenient for transporting products. They are able not only to cool them, but also to warm them. They do not have refrigerant and moving parts, so such models are environmentally friendly. Function only from the mains.

Thermo-refrigerators are capable of cooling products to 0 degrees, and heating to 60-70 degrees. Their volumes vary from 5 to 55 liters, the cost is 2-4 thousand rubles. Cheap models most often have only a cooling function.

The disadvantages of thermal refrigerators include the fact that they slowly gain temperature. In this regard, before loading into such a model, it is advisable to pre-cool the products in a stationary refrigerator.
