During combustion, wood generates heat, the amount of which depends on the characteristics of its structure: density and hardness. If you know which trees are most effective in heating a house, you can save a lot on heating it.

Wood has long been used by man for heat. It is noticed that some firewood burns hotter, while others do not heat well, but give a lot of soot. Therefore, some tree species are better suited for fireplaces, while others are better for heating homes.

What kind of firewood is the hottest?

More heat is generated during the combustion of oak. This wood is considered to be among the elite, and is rarely used for space heating. But if you manage to buy sawmill waste, the best firewood for a private house cannot be found. Oak wood has its own peculiarity: it is very dense, during burning it exudes a pleasant aroma, which traditional healers consider healthy. But this effect is inherent only to middle-aged plants. Old trees, on the contrary, make the air heavier and produce much less heat when burning. After combustion, a lot of ash remains from them.

Despite the recognized "hotness" of oak firewood, birch trees are considered more efficient fuel. In terms of heat transfer, they are inferior to oak, but a quarter ahead of the popular aspen. When burning, birch firewood spreads a smell that personifies the "spirit" of the Russian house. Their disadvantage is that due to the high content of resin in the wood, this type of fuel gives a lot of soot. Therefore, birch firewood is recommended to be used in combination with aspen, since the latter is able to burn the soot accumulating in the chimney. Moreover, she herself almost does not distinguish.

Firewood of pine and deciduous species gives a lot of heat, but they are inferior to birch and aspen. Coniferous wood contains a lot of resin, so such firewood often “shoots” and has a pleasant aroma characteristic of spruce and pine. Good fuel is fruit trees and shrubs. They have a dense, strong wood structure that burns slowly and gives off a lot of heat. Some owners intentionally harvest brushwood from cherries to gradually throw it into the furnace fire, which ensures the enjoyment of a persistent aroma characteristic of this plant.

What kind of firewood is considered "royal"?

"Royal" fuel is called alder wood. There are 27 species of this tree, and they all differ in that they emit extremely little soot during combustion and give a large amount of heat. It is the alder that is most suitable for the firebox of the bath "in black". It almost does not emit smoke, spreading an aroma that has an anti-inflammatory effect on the respiratory system. Among other things, alder firewood burns very beautifully: the flame is even, roast, with bewitching overflows in the pores of wood.
