Air conditioners are used when washing as an additional tool. They are added to the water at the last rinse, which makes the wash better and the laundry softer. The conditioner gives the linen anti-static properties and a pleasant smell, makes its color more stable and facilitates subsequent ironing.

What air conditioning consists of

The main active ingredient in any conditioner is cationic surfactants - surfactants. It is a water-soluble substance, therefore the basis of the conditioner is water. In addition, it includes silicone, preservatives, dye, thickener, flavoring or perfume.

Surfactants envelop fabric fibers with a thin film, creating the effect of sliding and protection, due to which:

- the fabric softens and acquires dirt-repellent properties;

- there is an antistatic effect that prevents the accumulation of mini-charges of electricity on synthetic fabrics;

- the material is easier to smooth;

- the wear resistance of things increases, and they keep their original shape longer and retain color.

Silicone is not part of all air conditioners, but only those that are more expensive. Depending on the other additional substances that make up the air conditioner, it can perform different functions. In one case, it will give the fabric water- and dirt-repellent properties, in the other, on the contrary, water-absorbing, necessary, for example, for towels and underwear made from natural fibers. The presence of silicone allows you to make the fabric soft and fluffy, and also prevents the formation of spools and increases color stability.

The composition of the air conditioner also adds special substances that facilitate the ironing process and provide an antistatic effect, as well as perfumes, giving it a pleasant aroma or an elusive smell of freshness. Undesirable components include chloroform, which causes allergies, benzyl acetate, which is used as a solvent for varnishes, and terpineol, a thickener with a very strong odor.
