To remove old paint from drywall, you need to know the sequence of actions that will lead to the desired result. It is important to properly prepare the room and stock up on protective equipment: a mask, glasses and rubber gloves. If you do not tolerate loud sounds, then you will need ear plugs.
GKL canvases consist of gypsum glued with thick cardboard. Since the latter is quite easily damaged by a spatula blade, it will be difficult to remove paint with this tool. It is also not possible to burn it with a blowtorch, since cardboard is a combustible material. GKL paint can be removed using a method that includes pre-treatment of walls.
Why remove paint from drywall?
This may be required:
- if its quality was not good enough;
- if an excessively large number of layers is applied, and peeling layers appear;
- if mistakes were made during operation and bursts formed on the walls;
The houses that were built before 1975 used paint mixed with toxic materials. At that time, it was not possible to detect its negative impact on the environment and human health. If the result of the test for the presence of toxic inclusions is positive, you will not need to remove the paint, but to dismantle the entire drywall wall sheathing.
