Carpets on the walls are no longer in fashion. Yes, and for flooring, time makes other demands. But now the carpet was removed from the wall, throwing it out is a pity, and for the old palace I would like to find a new application. Perhaps the old carpet will still serve its owners?
To begin with, of course, the carpet will have to be thoroughly cleaned. Even better - to take it to a specialized cleaning - in the old pile not only dust and dirt could accumulate, but also parasites that must be disposed of if you plan to continue to use the carpet in the house.
Simple solutions
If the carpet is not too thick and in good condition, you can use it as a bedspread for a sofa or bed. True, caring for such a coating is quite difficult.
The easiest way, of course, is to cut the old carpet into several small rugs that can be laid in the hallway, in the bath, in the toilet or on the balcony. In order not to crumble the edges, you need to tape them or crochet. It is not a pity to throw such rugs as they become dirty, and you will not have to spend money on new ones for a long time - they will be given to you for nothing!
If the carpet is too old and worn, then it’s not a pity to cut it and lay it
at the dacha between the beds - it will become more convenient to work in the garden, dirt and clay will not stick to shoes, and water will no longer stand in the aisles.
A bit of fantasy
You can lay the old carpet on the floor, after giving it a new shape. For example, it will be interesting to look at the figure of an animal skin carved from a carpet. Cut edges, of course, also need to be processed.
You can update old stools. To do this, cut circles or squares from the carpet in the shape of seats, work on the edges, sew foam rubber on the wrong side. Such seats can be attached to stools with rubber bands. It will sit softly, and a new interesting detail will appear in the interior.
Places with obvious defects can be covered with a bright knitted applique.
You can cut the old carpet, and fasten its parts with knitted elements. Such a rug will be much easier to fold and store. It is convenient to take it with you to nature, to the country, to use for games in the nursery.
Serves a rug and pets. For them, you can make a simple bedding using parts cut from an old carpet, or upholstery for a cat's house, for example.
If the carpet is strong and soft enough, you can sew cozy slippers out of it or even upgrade your shoes “if you wish”. But the last option is the lot of big fans of extravagant outfits.
