The flower, which the Greeks called cyclamen, is a perennial. In the potted part, the plant forms a round corm. Unlike most other flowers, cyclamen does not want to bloom in the summer.

Cyclamen leaves are located on long petioles, they have a decorative pattern of silver-gray color. Cyclamen flowering can last quite a long time - it starts from about the second half of October, and can last with careful care until the end of March.

When choosing cyclamen, pay attention to the leaves of the plant and its tuber. Leaves should be intact, without dried places and lethargy. Inspect the tuber for signs of rotting, wrinkled areas. Better get cyclamen in the fall, when its flowering has just begun. It is good if the selected plant has many buds.

One of the main conditions that must be observed when caring for cyclamen is coolness. It is desirable to maintain a temperature of cyclamen from twelve to fifteen degrees above zero. The plant needs to provide good lighting, but direct sunlight is contraindicated.

Provide plant care even after flowering is completed. Withered leaves and flowers of cicalamen fall off. If something remains on the tuber, remove everything mechanically, that is, carefully cut with scissors. When doing this, try not to damage the root. Reduce watering the plant, it must be moved to a cool, shaded place. A sure sign that the plant has well tolerated the dormant period and is about to "wake up" is the appearance of leaves on the tuber.

There are no special difficulties in caring for cyclamen. If you follow all the rules and carefully monitor it, the plant will be able to please the owners with its flowering for about twenty years.
Useful advice
Do not bury the tuber of the plant in the ground - a third of it must be left on the surface. A large pot for cyclamen will not work - they will bloom very badly in them, and sometimes the tubers will even rot.
