Plywood - the material is rather moody. If the storage conditions are violated, it can undergo various kinds of deformations. The master often has to puzzle over how to return a curved plywood sheet to its original appearance. Straightening plywood requires patience and adherence to technology. When eliminating wood defects, it is important to proceed with caution, being careful.

When straightening plywood, use the same methods that are used to bend wood. The formation of the desired profile is achieved by thermal exposure to the product in conditions of high humidity. Moisture-impregnated wood acquires plasticity, and the structure of the material is better to recover.

Prepare the workpiece to be straightened. Identify the places on the surface of the plywood where you want to restore shape. If the plywood sheet is large enough in size, cover the deformed place with wet rags and let the wood soak a little moisture. Then do the same procedure on the back of the sheet.

Iron the sheet thus treated at the points of deformation with a hot iron. Then place the product on a flat, smooth surface and place the bend on top. Use quite massive objects as a load. Leave the plywood under oppression for several hours so that the wood can dry.

Pre-steam small plywood parts for straightening. At the same time, make sure that the wood does not swell, since prolonged exposure to moisture can lead to peeling of the material. After steaming, also place the part under the load and leave to dry. The thicker the plywood, the heavier the load.

If there are deformations of several sheets of plywood, when the storage conditions of the material have been violated, use the sheets themselves as cargo. Following the above recommendations, treat the deformed sections of each sheet with steam or moisten in another way. Then lay the sheets on top of each other, turning them so that the places to be straightened on different sheets do not coincide. Place the load on the top sheet.
