In addition, these lamps use an electronic unit that is sensitive to voltage surges, and the tube does not tolerate strong mechanical stresses. The ratio of the power of tube lamps to conventional incandescent lamps is approximately 1: 5, that is, to obtain the amount of light equivalent to the radiation of a hundred-watt bulb, five times less electric power is required.

LED luminaires are produced by a more sophisticated technology, and therefore are twice as expensive as tubular. The light source in them is a radiating semiconductor coated with a layer of phosphor. In the process, the LED lamp heats up significantly, which is critical to maintain its performance. Because of this, the use of such lamps in a confined space is limited. Concerning the energy saving coefficient in such lamps, no final conclusion can be made. The dependence of the amount of emitted light on energy consumption in them is non-linear, that is, the higher the power of the lamp, the more it is economical in comparison with a conventional incandescent lamp. In household lighting, LED lamps can reduce energy consumption by up to seven times.

Lamp power selection

Due to the low energy consumption of such lamps, do not flatter yourself too much. A part of the emitted light is in the spectrum invisible to the human eye, and therefore you should make a power reserve when choosing a lamp. For example, if a conventional incandescent lamp gave enough light at a power of 100 W, the optimal replacement for it would be a tubular energy-saving lamp with a power of 27 W or a LED lamp for 18 watts.
