An external air conditioning unit mounted on the wall of a building can be seriously damaged by falling objects, such as melting icicles or shards of plaster. To protect against mechanical damage and weathering, a visor should be installed over the air conditioner, which can actually be made at home in a few hours.
Source material selection
To make the visor itself, you will need a piece of coated iron with dimensions of 1000x600-650 millimeters. Of the types of metal, galvanized steel or a steel sheet with acrylic painting are perfect. An ideal option would be to buy a tide for plastic windows with a depth of 60 centimeters. Profiled sheets can also be used for this purpose, but they more strongly propagate sound from falling drops. In addition, the wave of the sheet will have to be perpendicular to the slope, which means that the flow of water will be slowed down. As a basis for the bracket, corners with a shelf width of 20 millimeters are suitable. They will need two cuts of 1.3 meters.

In other words, if one bracket in the fixed state is facing the side shelf of the corner to the left, the other should be facing the shelf to the right.
Making a cover for a visor
Both broad sides of the visor should be bent in different directions. That edge, which will be located from the wall, needs to be bent upward at an angle slightly less than the straight line with an indent of 5-6 centimeters. The front edge of the visor should be bent down at a right angle and indented by 2-3 centimeters. The sheet of iron should be bent with a mallet according to preliminary marking, laying the workpiece with a bending edge on the edge of the workbench or placing a wooden beam under it. When bending metal with an acrylic coating, it is necessary to apply weak and frequent blows, being careful not to damage the paint layer.
