Timely planting of plants is one of the conditions for their normal growth and development and, when it comes to fruit or vegetable crops, to obtain a good harvest. The main planting work is in the spring, although seedlings of vegetables grown at home may require earlier planting, and the planting period for winter crops is shifted to autumn.

The period during which the main planting work falls is considered spring. Nevertheless, preparation for this season is worth doing in the winter. At this time, pre-sowing treatment of asters and laying on the stratification of seeds of coniferous crops begins. Place the seeds of asters in a container with the soil mixture and remove it until March under the snow. If you are going to grow spruce or pine from the seeds, place them in moist sand and remove the container into a room with a temperature of no higher than three degrees until April.

The second half of March is suitable for sowing tomatoes and bell peppers, if you are going to grow these crops in seedlings, followed by planting in open ground. Before placing the seeds in a container with the soil mixture, hold them for ten to fifteen minutes in a strong solution of potassium permanganate. Shoots of seedlings sown at this time will appear before daylight becomes long enough for the normal development of plants. To prevent seedlings from stretching, use a fluorescent lamp to illuminate.

If you grow cucumbers in seedlings, soak the seeds for fifteen minutes in a potassium permanganate solution in early April, rinse with running water and sprout, placing them in a damp cloth. After the first roots appear, plant the seeds in a container with the soil mixture and place in a well-lit place. If you grow astra seedlings without preliminary stratification, sow them in a container with soil mixture in April.

In April, plums, cherries, apple trees, pears and other seedlings purchased in the nursery in early spring or dug in the fall can be planted in thawed land. Place the plants in the planted pits prepared in the fall, spread the roots and sprinkle them with fertile soil. The same time is suitable for planting ornamental shrubs.

At the end of April, loosen the bed, prepared in the fall for spring garlic, and plant the cloves in the ground.

At the end of April or closer to the beginning of May, when the soil is thawing and drying out, plant potato tubers in the ground prepared in the fall. After the threat of frost passes, seedlings of peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers can be transplanted into the open ground. When starting work, make sure that the soil has managed to warm up to fifteen degrees.

At the beginning of August or at the very end of July, arrange a bed for garden strawberries, with which you plan to harvest the next year. As planting material, you can use well-developed rosettes formed on adult bushes.

Closer to autumn, when the soil temperature is no higher than ten degrees, plant tulip bulbs in the ground. In September and early October, the time comes for planting winter garlic. The same period can be used for planting winter-hardy fruit trees and shrubs.

If you want to grow seedlings of tomatoes or peppers, followed by planting in a greenhouse, shift the timing of sowing seeds 2 weeks earlier.
