1

Do not tolerate the low temperature maintained in the refrigerator, tropical fruits. Under such conditions, they decay much faster, while emitting harmful gases. Therefore, having purchased a large number of kiwi, bananas, tangerines, lemons, etc., store them wrapped in paper at room temperature, without putting them in a bag or containers. The same rule applies to apples and pears. Moreover, apples in the process of storage emit ethylene, significantly reducing the shelf life of many other vegetables and fruits located next to them.

2

Melons, pumpkins, zucchini in the refrigerator quickly wither, become soft and moldy. While maintaining the integrity of the peel, they are perfectly stored at room temperature for several months, without losing their taste and nutritional qualities. You can’t put already cut melon into the refrigerator, as it quickly begins to deteriorate, releasing harmful substances.

3

Vegetables with a high water content, such as cucumbers, tomatoes or eggplant, quickly become dark in the refrigerator, leading to decay. Tomatoes and cucumbers can be stored at room temperature by folding them in a small basket. Eggplants can be prepared for the winter if they are cut into small slices and dried.

4

Onions do not tolerate low temperatures. Under such conditions, its structure is disturbed, and it becomes soft. In addition, the pungent smell of this vegetable in the confined space of the refrigerator can penetrate other products, which spoils their taste. If necessary, the cut onion can be stored for a short time in the refrigerator, but only in the form that is securely packed in a bag or plastic wrap. In general, onions are stored in a warm and dry place.

5

Do not keep honey and olive oil in the refrigerator. In these products, a white precipitate forms under the influence of low temperature. Moreover, all their useful qualities disappear. These products are best stored at room temperature. It is pointless to store jam, canned food, and smoked meats in the refrigerator, because they only occupy its free area. All of them are well preserved at room temperature.

6

They do not like a refrigerator and hard vegetables, for example, potatoes, carrots, radishes, beets, etc. - in it they quickly sprout or decay. The most optimal storage method for them is a box made of plastic or wood, standing in a dry, dark place.

7

Chocolate should also not be kept in the refrigerator. Low temperatures provoke the appearance of condensate on its surface, which subsequently turns into a white coating. It does not harm the body, but negatively affects the appearance of chocolates and sweets.
