In washing machines, asynchronous, commutator and electronic motors are used. The latter are used in devices with direct drive. When the machine fails completely, the home master can find another application for the engine from it.

Unplug the washing machine. Ask the plumber to disconnect it from the water supply. Keep it off for at least ten hours to discharge all capacitors. Disassemble the machine and remove the engine from it.

If the motor is asynchronous, do not cut the wires going from it to the capacitor bank. Pull it out with her. The battery may look like a plastic or metal box, often sealed. If you open it, it will reveal several capacitors connected in parallel. After examining them, close the box again. See how the battery is connected to the engine: one winding of the latter is connected directly to the network, the other through capacitors. Without changing anything in this circuit, apply mains voltage to it through a 2 amp fuse - the engine will begin to rotate. Remember that after turning off, before touching the circuit elements, you should wait for the capacitors to discharge.

The collector motors used in washing machines are low voltage. They are usually designed for constant voltage and have permanent magnets on the stator. Find the sticker on the motor and find out the supply voltage. It is such a constant voltage and apply to the engine. If desired, use a power supply taken from the machine itself to generate it.

Remove the electronic motor from the direct drive machine with the control unit. The supply voltage is in most cases indicated on this unit. When feeding it, observe the polarity (reverse by polarity reversal is not possible for such motors). If it does not start, look for additional pins on the connectors that require a logical unit or zero to start rotation in one direction or another.

In a machine with a mechanical drive, there may be a small auxiliary engine with a gearbox to drive the command device or automatic reverse device. It has two conclusions. According to his nameplate or sticker, determine the voltage of his power and the type of current. Connect it to the source with the appropriate parameters, and it will begin to rotate. Due to the presence of the gearbox, its rotation frequency can be very small - about 4 revolutions per minute.

Do not operate while energized. Even when using low voltage motors, beware of spikes in self-induction.
