A kitchen faucet may fail at the wrong time. You can call the plumbing, of course, although it is still worth replacing the tap with a newer, more reliable one. And the problems with plumbing immediately become less.

You will need

  • - new kitchen faucet;

  • - adjustable or gas wrench;

  • - set of screwdrivers;

  • - tow;

  • - sealant.

Instruction manual

1

Open the tap and close the hot and cold water valves until the water stops flowing. Inspect the pipes. Most often, water is used with steel pipes (one for hot and one for cold water) when they go to the kitchen sink.

2

Loosen the coupling that secures the valve to the pipe using an adjustable or gas wrench. Rotate counterclockwise. This coupling is usually located at the bottom of the sink. The nut can turn with difficulty - then you can drip a little engine oil. Or use two wrenches, one of which you will fix the nut, and the second - to unscrew the coupling.

3

Having unscrewed the coupling, carefully disconnect the tap from the pipe, and the supply hoses from the tap. They are usually rubber, braided in metal. Immediately inspect the supply hoses for thread integrity - both internal and external.

4

Rubber gaskets inside the nuts must be present and in excellent condition. If the gaskets crumble or are too squeezed, replace them with new ones. You can either cut them yourself out of a suitable piece of rubber, or buy a whole set in a home goods store, in the plumbing department.

5

Now you can install a new crane. Place a gasket on the sink so that water does not leak under the sink, put the tap in place and use a wrench to tighten the nut that holds the mixer to the sink.

6

Connect the mixer to the supply pipes using gasket hoses. If you tap is attached directly to the pipe, wrap the thread with tow, thickening its layer as you wind it. However, do not exceed the height of the thread, otherwise the valve simply will not screw in.

7

Then you can use sealant. When it hardens, it will look like rubber. If there is no sealant, coat the threaded connection with waterproof paint, or rather enamel. True, it will dry long enough, but it will provide good protection from water. Open the water supply valves and check if everything is okay, if it is dripping anywhere. If everything is tight everywhere, the repair can be considered finished.
