First of all, you need to choose a high-quality lemon fruit to get seeds for sowing from it. You can choose any kind of lemon, but it is better to choose the one that suits your situation. For example, if you live in a cool climate and intend to grow lemon indoors, Meyer lemon will suit you. This is a decorative lemon tree variety that is small in size.

Lemon can be grown in ordinary soil, but you can use special mixtures. To obtain such a mixture, mix, for example, perlite, peat, vermiculite and organic fertilizers in equal proportions. Such soil has advantages over ordinary soil, the seeds in it germinate much more efficiently.

To prepare lemon seedlings, you need to pick up a pot with a drainage hole at the bottom. Such a pot is usually small in size, about 10-12 cm in depth and several centimeters in diameter. Subsequently, seedlings must be transplanted into larger containers, 25-30 cm in depth and about 15 cm in diameter.

To germinate the seedling, moisten the prepared soil and fill it in a pot. Remove the lemon seed from the fruit, peel the pulp, but do not let it dry. Immerse the seed in the ground to a depth of about 5 mm and pour a small amount of water. The pot must be covered with foil with holes and placed in a warm, moist place. Do not let the soil dry completely; it should remain a little damp. After about two weeks, you will see seedlings sprouts. As soon as this happens, remove the film covering the pot and place the container under the sun, for example, on the windowsill.

A seedling that has reached 5–8 cm in height can already be transplanted into a large container. This can happen about two months after germination. Carefully care for the lemon after the transplant. Water it regularly, but do not let puddles form in the pot, make sure that the drainage works properly. Provide the lemon with sunlight for at least 8 hours a day.

Like many other plants, lemon needs some nutrition. As soon as many small leaves appear on it, add organic fertilizers to the soil, for example, biohumus or compost. Use this top dressing several times a year, but do not overdo it. Postpone dressing if you think it can harm the tree.

Watch the condition of the tree daily, pay special attention to the leaves. Various pests can accumulate on their underside. Delete them as they appear.
