Clothes made from linen can last for many years, but for this you need to learn how to wash it correctly. Proper care will not only preserve the perfect appearance of the product, but also increase the softness and elasticity of the material.

Instruction manual

1

Pay particular attention to the choice of washing powder. To wash linen products, use a suitable detergent that contains components that increase the alkalinity of the water. The fact is that alkaline water speeds up the process of removing dirt and has a beneficial effect on the condition of the tissue. In addition, avoid contact with flax and chlorine (it is present in bleaching detergents and stain removers), as this will make the fabric fibers less durable. Use a detergent with oxygen bleach to wash white linen.

2

Linen clothes can be washed manually, although this process will require a lot of time and effort. For washing, select a larger basin: in such a container, the product will not be “squeezed” during soaking, it will “relax” and allow the detergent to act. Use enough water and rinse the linen thoroughly, otherwise the rest of the detergent will start to oxidize in natural fibers, which will shorten the life of the item. When rinsing colored linen clothes, add a little vinegar or citric acid to the water: this will preserve the color saturation.

3

When machine washing, the linen product should be freely positioned, that is, the machine should not be overloaded. Choose a delicate wash mode. The recommended water temperature is 30 ° C - 40 ° C, although it is better in each case to take into account the parameters that are indicated on the label attached to the clothes.

4

A stain placed on a linen product is easier to remove if it is acted immediately, that is, to immediately wash the item. So, treat the area of clothing stained with ink with milk or liquid soap with ammonia, then gently rub the stain and rinse the product with clean water. Remove grease stains with liquid ammonia, and traces of red wine with white wine or carbonated water. Fight the “old” spot with a stain remover: it can be used on both white and colored fabrics. Before using this cleanser on colored fabrics, check the color fastness (apply stain remover on an inconspicuous area, leave it for a couple of minutes, and then check if the color of the product does not change here, you can safely use it).

note

Flax products require delicate handling: they can not be boiled, soaked for a long time and twisted strongly.
