But this does not mean that the situation is hopeless. You just have to work hard and remove the smell in several stages. So, for starters, stock up on the necessary ingredients. You will need:
- 9% table vinegar;
- baking soda;
- 3% hydrogen peroxide;
- liquid soap or dishwashing detergent.
When everything you need to remove the smell is ready, you can proceed. If the stain is fresh, blot the place where the cat wrote. You can use paper napkins for this or sprinkle with small zeolite or bentonite absorbent for cat's toilets. When urine is absorbed, vacuum the affected area. Just do not rinse with water, otherwise cat urine will spread to a much larger area.
Now dilute the vinegar with water in a proportion of one to three. Pour the treated area with the resulting liquid and cover with paper, leaving to dry. But take your time, it is too early to hope that the smell of cat urine will disappear. The manipulations destroyed urine, while thioli, a much more odorous substance, still remained in the place of felony atrocity.
The next processing step will help eliminate it. Sprinkle generously with baking soda. You should already have a solution ready for use that consists of 100 ml of hydrogen peroxide, ½ teaspoon of detergent and 100 ml of water. Pour the prepared product into a spray bottle and sprinkle liberally on a surface sprinkled with soda. A foam should appear. After that, you need to wait 2-3 hours. During this time, a mixture of peroxide and soda will produce oxygen, it will combine with thioli, the oxidation reaction will decompose this substance into carbon dioxide and ammonium. As a result, everything will quickly evaporate, the smell of cat urine will not remain a trace.
So, to remove the smell of cat urine, you need to conduct a complex chemical reaction. Troublesome, but effective.
