A do-it-yourself laundry basket made from improvised materials is not only a convenient and aesthetic household accessory, but also the ability to get rid of waste paper or deposits of fabric flaps without harming the environment.
The use of the laundry basket, which allows you to maintain order in the house, is obvious. But a do-it-yourself basket is often also a stylish element of the interior, which compares favorably with faceless factory products.
Wrapping paper basket
The manufacture of a basket of thick packing paper or unnecessary wallpaper begins with the preparation of paper strips, the length and width of which will determine the size of the finished product. In order for the structure to keep its shape and be strong, the paper strips must be carefully folded several times along, so the blanks are cut wide enough. Each strip of paper is sewn on a sewing machine at both edges, departing from them about 5 mm. Threads can be selected to match the color of the paper, and contrasting.
The size of the basket will be determined by the number of stripes that are laid in its base. To start weaving, on a flat surface, the right number of workpieces is arranged in parallel, the same number of strips are neatly intertwined with them, fixing the joints with glue. After the bottom of the basket is woven, the strips are lifted vertically and fixed with office clips or paper clips. The remaining loose ends of the paper blanks are brought into the basket and glued.
Vertical weaving is continued until the basket reaches the desired height. If the strips have fairly long ends, do not trim them. It is better to bend the strips inward, weave them into the walls of the basket and fix with glue. If desired, the edges of the finished product can be processed using a decorative ribbon and decorate the basket with a bow.
