Washing the handkerchiefs used for their intended purpose can be an unpleasant task. However, these hygiene items are relatively easy to erase. The main task is to ensure that spots and stains are completely removed from the fabric, the handkerchief is sanitized and regains a fresh and neat appearance for its further use.

Wash handkerchiefs by hand. The most effective way to get rid of germs is to rub them with soap and water until a thick foam forms, then rinse with plenty of water. If the handkerchiefs are too dirty, soak them first in soapy water with added powder or in salt water, diluting 3 tbsp. coarse salt per liter of warm water. Leave on for 40-60 minutes, then wash as usual.

Scarves can be machine washed. However, do not overload the machine with laundry. Putting a handkerchief in a drum with incomplete loading of linen, you will avoid unpleasant surprises on your favorite jumper or bathrobe. Both when washing by hand and in the washing machine, use hot water to effectively clean and sterilize the fabric.

Process the handkerchiefs with a stain remover, leave the chemical on the fabric for 10-20 minutes. Handkerchiefs should be moistened with water before you fill them with potent chemicals, otherwise the accessory can be irreversibly ruined.

Bleach the handkerchief with a chlorine-containing product not only to eliminate unpleasant stains, but also to rid them of bacteria and viruses. Add 0.5 to 1 cup of bleach to a full load of white laundry, including handkerchiefs. To soak handkerchiefs, use 1/4 cup bleach in 5 liters of water.

Boil your handkerchiefs. If you don’t have to bleach the handkerchiefs, but want to sanitize them, put them in a pot of boiling water. Then immediately remove it from the heat and let the water cool. After that, take out the scarves and throw them in the machine for normal washing.
Useful advice
Purchase at least 10 pieces of handkerchiefs. You will have to wash your handkerchief every time it gets dirty. And, accordingly, take a clean replacement. The presence of always a fresh scarf in your pocket is an indicator of a tidy person.
Make it a rule: your handkerchief should never leave a feeling of moisture when you put your hand in your pocket to get it. To do this, if you need to, at least hourly change your handkerchief, so as not to get infected with your own viruses again.
