In order for the heat not to leave the house, it is required to perform high-quality insulation of walls and ceilings. You need to start with the latter. There are few stages of warming a private house, but some of them are very laborious.

First of all, you need to examine the attic and examine how strong its floor is. The choice of material for the insulation of the upper floor will depend on this. If it is able to withstand the additional weight load, you can use the simplest method of insulation - pour a layer of expanded clay, sawdust or dry river sand on the attic floor. If the lining of the upper floor is weak, it is dismantled, and foam or mineral wool boards are laid in between the beams. Then the casing is returned to its place.

It is more difficult to insulate the floor. To do this, you need to open it and either pour loose insulation on the ground, or proceed with the installation of the supporting strips. For this purpose, you can use any suitable lumber: slab, OSB boards (cut into strips 8-10 cm wide), boards, durable slats or whetstones. Wood is fixed under the logs, attaching it to them with wood screws. After that, a heater is laid in the openings between the lags. If foam is laid, then the cracks must be filled with mounting foam. Then re-flooring the floorboards.

Often the main heat leak occurs through windows. Here, the main attention should be paid to frame insulation. The cracks are filled with waterproof and frost-resistant silicone sealant, putties, cotton, tow, sealed with paper or special foam-based tapes on an adhesive basis.

If metal-plastic windows are installed, but they do not retain heat well, the reason must be sought in improperly mounted slopes. These sheets should be removed, at intervals lay the insulation (or fill them with mounting foam) and install in place. The same applies if the doors are “cold”.

Brick has a higher thermal conductivity than wood. Therefore, internal insulation will not be enough. The most effective is considered to be the external one, consisting of mounting the heat insulating panels on the walls of the building from the outside. For this purpose, it is better to choose a foam sheet. This material does not absorb moisture and easily sticks to bricks.

First, you should build a wooden frame, consisting of battens with a pitch between them equal to the width of the insulation. It is laid in the gaps between the uprights of the frame. Upon completion of work, the finishing material is mounted on top of the foam: siding, corrugated board, facade panels.
