To stick new wallpapers, old ones need to be torn off. How to do it quickly and professionally so that there is no dust in the apartment?
Before gluing new wallpapers, the old ones need to be removed - they have to be torn off and scraped off the wall. In this case, a lot of dust appears, which invariably fills the entire apartment. To avoid this, it is worth using a very simple way: before removing the wallpaper, you need to moisten it with water.
For this operation, you will need a spray gun for spraying flowers or for wetting the laundry while ironing. The larger your apartment, the more voluminous the sprayer should be. Or you will have to repeatedly pour water into the spray bottle to quickly process the entire surface of the walls.
Remember that wallpaper dries quickly. Perhaps it is worth splashing water on one wall and peeling the wallpaper from it, and then alternately processing all the other surfaces.
So, you scooped up water in the spray bottle, laid along the wall of the newspaper, so as not to flood the floor, and set to work. Water should be sprayed over the entire surface of the wall as more evenly so that the wallpaper lags behind immediately as a whole. The fact is that the adhesive softens under the influence of water, and the wallpaper does not so well hold. If you're lucky, they can lag behind in whole layers, and in 5-10 minutes you can rip off a whole wall. If the wallpaper was pasted with an uneven glue application, then some areas will lag earlier, while others will still hold. Here it’s worth a little longer to wait or resort to using a thin metal spatula and strip off poorly sensitive areas.
If there are several layers on the walls (it happens that the old wallpaper does not peel off before repair), then the work will be complicated. Then you have to peel each layer in turn and so go to the plaster itself. However, you can leave the very first layer of wallpaper, if it holds tight, this is your decision. Or steadily scrap off a centimeter by a centimeter, exposing the wall.
A small nuance: it is easy to guess that it is much more profitable to spray the wall with warm water - at least slightly above room temperature. In this case, the glue will soak faster. But hot water can "brew" it, and then peeling the wallpaper will become even more difficult.
And one more little advice: if the walls in your apartment are not very smooth, then before gluing new wallpapers, stick one layer of newspapers under them - this will help hide small cracks and bumps, and the walls will look much more even.
