Sow corn seeds in May: 25 days before planting in the ground. For seedlings of corn, ordinary garden land is suitable. Or, prepare a substrate consisting of compost and turf land in a 1: 1 ratio. It happens that garden land is too heavy. In this case, add 1/3 of the peat to it. If you take a standard peat substrate for vegetables for growing corn, feed seedlings with fertilizers more often (2-3 times for the entire growing period). Keep in mind that corn loves loose, breathable, and moisture-resistant soil.

Sprout the corn seeds on wet, filtered paper before planting. For seedlings, use small boxes or pots: their width should be 12 cm. In each box, plant 3-4 seeds to a depth of 3 cm. Plantings can be covered with plastic wrap until seedlings appear. The ground under the film warms up well, so the seeds germinate faster.

When 3-4 seedlings appear in the seedlings, leave the two largest plants in each pot, and remove the rest. Place the seedlings in a well-lit and warm place. Water the corn at the seedling stage sparingly: it does not like excess moisture. The most frequent watering will be required during the formation of the cobs. From organic fertilizers, take humus or compost at the rate of 5 kg per square meter. Make sure potassium is always present among the mineral fertilizers. The first fertilizer application can be timed to mid-June. For the second time, do it in the first decade of July. Corn consumes nutrients only in the second half of summer. Be sure to loosen the corn so that oxygen can flow freely to the roots. However, the higher the plant, the less depth the soil should be cultivated so as not to damage the roots.

When planting in the soil, place the corn away from cucumbers, as it takes a lot of nitrogen from the ground.
