What will be needed to make a reed fence?
First of all, you need reeds. You can either procure it yourself, or involve hired labor in this process. Reed has the ability to gradually conquer the water area, so there will not be a problem with cutting reeds, even on lakes and swamps that are privately owned. The best harvesting period is the end of summer or the beginning of autumn. The cut reeds are cleaned of leaves and laid to dry under a canopy until spring.
To knit the cane cloths you will need a workbench table. It is important that its length is at least 2 m, and the width is slightly larger than the planned mat width. The table will need to be knocked out of even planks, between which slots of such a thickness are left so that the knitting wire laid in 2-3 layers freely passes through them.
