Pad handle

The riveted handle, of course, is more durable, but not everyone has the opportunity to rive at home. If you still decide to rivet the handle, consider several circumstances. Rivets should not be on the same line, especially if you are making a wooden handle. In addition, the rivet closest to the blade should be away from where the index finger will be.
One-piece handle
Such a handle is better than glued from two halves. You can make it from a wooden stick, a single cylindrical or rectangular piece of plastic or ebonite, bone, horn, etc. Turn the shape of the desired shape. The handle should be so long that the shank goes right through and you can attach the tops to it. Mark the place where the shank will enter. Make a hole. It must fully match the shape of the shank. You can fix this handle with glue. The head is made of the same material as the pen itself, or of metal. The braid is also convenient from long leather cords, from synthetic and natural twine and other materials.
Wicker hilt
The easiest option for the wicker handle is wire. There are a lot of braiding options. For example, you can apply this. Take 3 identical pieces of colored wire and 1 about twice as long. Fold the first three pieces in half, bend the second so that one segment is the same as the other three. The second will be much longer. Connect the bend points. Braid the short ones with a long piece, distributing them so that a hole for the shank is formed in the middle. The shank itself can be glued or simply pasted.
