Furniture stapler, staples for it (type 53, hardened, 10-14 mm long), foam rubber, screwdriver (flat), hammer, pliers, adjustable wrench for bolts.

Start with small items, such as a chair (so you "beat your hand"). Disassemble the furniture (remove the seat from the chair, fasteners from the chair). It is better to put the fasteners in a bag so as not to lose them. Hang the cover and knock it out well from dust.

Find places where the padding is attached to the base with staples. Grab the staples with a screwdriver and pull out with pliers. After removing the upholstery, pull out the old foam rubber. If the furniture is more than five years old, it is better to throw it away and replace it with a new one, because dust that is harmful to health accumulates in it, and some deformation also occurs.

If the old upholstery is still in good condition and you want to leave it, then wash and dry it well. Otherwise, you will need a new cover (an option for true professionals is to sew it yourself).

Lay the foam, gently pull the upholstery along the pattern of the previous one, fix it with brackets. Pull lightly in place of fastening, the distance between the brackets must be maintained within two centimeters. Then fasten all the elements again in the correct order. Make sure that there is no excess fixture.

Having trained on the chairs, go to the more bulky decor elements - sofas, sofas will require a lot of time to change the upholstery. It will be more rational to resort to the help of other people, since pulling the cover alone will not be easy, especially if you set out to do it without wrinkles and tears. If you decide to do this work yourself, you must be sure that you are doing everything correctly and quickly.

Pulling the sofa with your own hands occurs in the following order. First you need to disassemble it. Remove all parts of the sofa that may interfere (pillows, rollers, etc.). The final stage is the assembly of the sofa, which is performed in the reverse order. During this operation, special attention should be paid to the uniform tension of the skin, while avoiding the distortion of the pattern.
