Just do not cut the bark from a living tree, it is better to look for an old dried birch to make a bonfire. Birch bark is easily stratified into thin plates that burn excellently even during rain.

You can make a bonfire by singing a bunch of dry pine needles, gradually laying small dry twigs on them. If there are no thin branches at your fingertips, try to set fire to thick ones, just before you bring a match to them, use a knife to make fir-tree-shaped incisions on the branches.
