Bathroom - a room characterized by high humidity. Therefore, for painting walls and ceilings, special compositions will be required - moisture resistant. This category of paints is among all its types: water-based, alkyd, acrylic, oil. Therefore, first choose the basis from which the composition is made.

What colors are suitable for the bathroom?

If the walls are carefully plastered or leveled with plasterboard, a good solution would be to purchase a water-based enamel. It has moisture resistance, forms a coating that does not allow steam. Before applying the paint, the surface should be prepared: treated with a primer. Water-based paints are non-toxic, fireproof, and do not have a pronounced pungent odor. After drying, they form a thin but durable film that has a water-repellent property.

However, these paints have a drawback: if you rub the wall with, for example, cotton, it will be painted in the color in which the surface is painted. In addition, a water emulsion should not be applied to metal products, as traces of rust may appear. Therefore, around nails and screws screwed into the wall, characteristic brownish stains sometimes form. But usually the owners update the room before this happens.

For painting the bathroom, alkyd or acrylic based paints are perfect. Among them, you need to choose one that is labeled "moisture resistant." These enamels have better adhesion to plastered, concrete and brick surfaces. But before applying the wall and ceiling must be primed. Alkyd or acrylic paints must be applied in 2-3 layers, in this case the coating will be durable, resistant to mechanical damage. Painted surfaces are easy to clean, including with abrasive products.

A novelty in the market of paints and varnishes is chlorinated rubber paint. These enamels are created for coloring saunas, baths, pools. Therefore, they are able to withstand direct contact with water for a long time. For bathrooms, such paints are ideal. They prevent the development of corrosion, have an antibacterial effect, are durable and easy to clean.
