Sometimes you need to check why the device does not work: because of a dead battery or still for another reason (oxidized contacts). You can also check the performance of the bulb when buying.

Decipher the multimeter to switch to different modes:
1) V --- - DC voltage measurement
2) V ~ - AC voltage measurement
3) A --- - direct current measurement
4) hFE - measurement of transistor parameters
6) Ω - resistance measurement
5) Thermometer using a thermocouple
7) Spin circuit.

We’ll figure out where the wire is.
The red wire with the probe at the end corresponds to plus + and must be connected to the VΩmA socket, and the black wire corresponds to - and must be connected to the socket called COM.
However, to measure current above 0.2 A (a bulb from a flashlight), you need to change the socket for the red probe to the uppermost socket, otherwise the device will fail.

Let's check the voltage of a 1.5-volt battery
Sometimes you need to find out what voltage the battery can give, and is it not discharged at all?
To do this, set the switch to V mode --- 20V.
If the voltage is not known, it is necessary to start from the maximum value, otherwise the device will fail.
We connect the red wire to the + batteries, and the black - respectively to -. And in the photo you can see that the battery is able to give 0.84 volts of voltage.

To do this, use the dialing mode. Take a light bulb and apply both probes to the iron surface of the light bulb, where it is screwed. If the lamp is working, the circuit will close and sound will go out. Also, if the power of the bulb is small, it may light up.
