When buying a level in a hardware store, you need to be sure that its readings are correct and accurate. There are 14 days from the date of purchase to return the goods. During this time, using simple instruments, you can check the level for accuracy.
In order for the repair work, in the process of which the building level is used, not to be in vain, before use the device must be checked for accuracy of readings. You can do this in 2 ways: check vertically and horizontally.
Vertical check
In order to get the perfect vertical, you need to screw a self-tapping screw into the wall surface and tie a thread with a load on it to it. The length of the thread should be slightly larger than the length of the building level that will be tested. Thus, a perfectly vertical line is obtained, it is also a thread. Next, you need to make 2 control points for measurement. To do this, screw in 2 self-tapping screws so that the thread slightly touches the screw caps. In this process, it is imperative that the plumb line slide over the surface of the screw head and not deviate. The accuracy of future level readings depends on this.
When the screws are exposed, the thread with the load can be removed. Now the level must be attached to the caps of the screws and pay attention to the bubble. It should be exactly in the middle of the marks - the boundaries set at the factory. If the bubble is clearly in the center of these marks, this means that the level is set correctly and shows the ideal vertical. If the bubble is shifted in one direction or another, then, unfortunately, the level is not suitable for further work. In repair and construction it cannot be used. Such a product with a saved check can be replaced in the store.
