One of the main advantages of Roman curtains are their compact size, elegant appearance and practicality. However, due to their unusual shape, the stumbling block for many is the question of caring for and washing such curtains.

First of all, keep in mind that you can only wash Roman fabric curtains, and products made from natural fibers such as bamboo or tow are strictly forbidden to wash - they can only be cleaned with a soft brush.

When the curtains are removed from the cornice, before you start washing them, you need to pull out the slats that are laid between the strips of fabric. Such crossbars can be metal, wooden or plastic, and they are designed so that the curtains are stiffer and have a greater decorative effect. It is not difficult to pull out such rails: a special tape or finishing border (in which each of these inserts is inserted) is not stitched on one side.

If you want the curtains to last as long as possible - do not wash them too often. And to clean them from dust - periodically vacuum them, after wrapping the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner with a dense cloth. It is also useful to ventilate the curtains - creating a draft in the room. In addition, if possible, wash the curtains manually, as they can be deformed from machine wash. For the same reason, they must not be washed in hot water.

When washing by hand, soak the product for an hour in warm water with powder, which should be Ph - neutral. It should not contain any bleaching substances. If you need to remove a stain from the fabric, use a natural-based stain remover. If you will wash the curtain in the washing machine - be sure to set the gentle washing mode. If possible, place the curtains in a pillowcase or in a special cloth bag.

Regardless of the method of washing, be sure to rinse the curtains several times thoroughly. This is important because if the particles of the detergent remain in the fibers, then under the influence of sunlight in the fabric, a chemical reaction may occur between these particles and the special composition that impregnates the fabrics used in the manufacture of Roman curtains. In this case, the curtain can be damaged, as the impregnation not only improves the properties of the material from which it is made, but also protects the fabric from burnout and heating under the influence of sunlight.
