Instruction manual
1
Before painting, paraffin will need to be melted in a water bath. However, if you do not have this device, replace it with two pans of different sizes. Place the paraffin in a smaller container and insert it into a pot of boiling water.
2
Once the paraffin has completely melted, remove the water bath from the stove and add wax dyes, available in the form of powder, tablets or aniline paints for oil-based candles. The color saturation of paraffin depends on the dosage of the dye. It is better not to use the dye in high concentration.
3
Colorants for candles can be mixed. So, from yellow and blue paint you can get green, from red and yellow - orange, and from blue and red - purple. In order to avoid unforeseen chemical reactions between the components of the mixture, add paints of the same manufacturer to the melt.
4
Wax crayons can be used to color paraffin. Grate the desired color of chalk on a fine grater, add to the melted paraffin and stir. Such a dye may dissolve unevenly, so after the melt has the necessary color, try to extract the remaining fragments of crayons from it.
5
Fans of homemade candle making use natural materials to give paraffin the right color. The leaves of tansy will color the melt in green, the green peel of a walnut can be used to obtain a golden hue. The flowers of African marigolds, known as marigolds or tagetes, are used to produce yellow. To color half a kilogram of paraffin, you need two glasses of tansy leaves or marigold flowers. The walnut peel will need only half a glass.
6
To extract paint from leaves or flowers in paraffin, ten to twenty percent of stearin should be added. In the melt obtained from candle scrap, this substance is already contained.
7
Place the coloring material in a bag of loose fabric that does not contain components that can melt in heated paraffin. Dip the prepared parcel into a melt heated in a water bath and leave for an hour. Stir the paraffin mass from time to time for uniform staining.
8
Painted melt has a much brighter color than solidified paraffin. To see how the result of your efforts will look after hardening, place a drop of molten mass on a thick sheet of white paper.
