Perhaps, in the wardrobe of every person there is such a stylish and practical thing as a down jacket. Products with a filler from fluff require special and delicate care, so experts recommend avoiding washing the down jacket at home and, if necessary, seek dry cleaning. But is it possible to independently return the original look to the down jacket by simply washing it in the washing machine?
The main difficulty of washing a down jacket at home is that the fluff is knocked down - this spoils not only the appearance of the product, but also negatively affects its heat-insulating properties. However, there are several effective ways to clean the down jacket from pollution, without resorting to dry cleaning services.
How to wash a down jacket in a washing machine so that the fluff does not go astray
To wash the down jacket in the washing machine, you will need a liquid detergent (ordinary washing powder does not rinse well from the down filler and leaves streaks on the outside of the product), three tennis balls (they are sold at any sports store) or special laundry balls.
Do not try to solve several problems at a time and, for the sake of saving time, wash, say, two down jackets at once. Each down jacket should be washed separately. Before you put the product in the drum of a washing machine, it is necessary to make sure that all zippers and buttons are fastened, and the jacket itself is turned inside out.
On top of the product we put tennis balls in the drum (in order to avoid dumping fluff into lumps) and select a special program designed for washing delicate things (spin no more than 400-500 revolutions, water temperature - 30 degrees). When setting the washing mode, it is better to set at least 2-3 rinses - this measure will help prevent the formation of soap stains.
