Pour boiling water into a thermos and add 1-2 teaspoons of 70% acetic or two packets of citric acid. Wait for the solution to cool completely and rinse the thermos thoroughly with warm running water. If the coating remains, repeat the procedure several times. Vinegar and citric acid will not only remove impurities, but also cope with an unpleasant odor. In addition, these natural "chemicals" will not harm the human body.

A non-standard, but very effective way to remove dark plaque is to use tablets for cleaning dentures. Pour hot water into a thermos and lower two tablets. Close the lid and leave it overnight. Shake well in the morning and pour the solution. Rinse the thermos several times with running water and let it dry.

To get rid of the musty and persistent smell, which eventually appears in a thermos, rice will help. This cereal has long been known for its unique feature - to absorb extraneous aromas. Unlike industrial detergents, the use of rice is absolutely harmless to humans and can be used often. Pour half a glass of raw rice into a thermos and fill it with a glass of hot water. Leave the cereal for an hour until the rice swells and absorbs an unpleasant odor. Then remove it. Rinse the thermos well with warm water. Foreign odor will disappear without a trace.
