Suede shoes are not recommended to be worn in damp weather, because whitish spots quickly form on it. To protect this “capricious” material, which requires much more care than the skin, you will need to devote several minutes daily to clean it from dirt and dampness.

Use a dry foam sponge to remove dirt and dust from suede. Before processing, the shoes will need to be dried. A brush with synthetic stiff bristles or a regular eraser will help to give a normal look to a worn out and overgrown suede.

Clean your shoes from black suede using used typewriter tapes. Treat suede with a special spray, having previously removed dust and dirt from it. Then apply a water-repellent spray to the shoes.

Try to clean the suede by wiping it with a crust of stale bread. Brush coffee grounds onto brown suede and, after letting it dry, after a while, clean with a dry brush.

Dilute a small amount of washing powder in the water and gently rinse the suede shoes with this solution. After wiping the shoes with a damp and dry cloth successively, put newsprint inside and leave to dry away from heat sources.

Remove greasy stains from shoes by sprinkling them with talcum powder or moistening with gasoline. After a few hours, brush the suede. Hold your shoes over a pot or boiling water kettle if you are unable to clean the material in any other way.

Wash faux suede shoes with a mild detergent solution, which is recommended for synthetic, silk and wool fabrics. Faux suede shoes with a pattern in the direction of the pile should be treated with a soft brush, dipping it first in a foam of neutral detergent.
Useful advice
To restore stale suede, use ammonia, a tablespoon of which must be diluted in 4 tablespoons of water. After cleaning the material with a foam sponge soaked in the solution, the suede must be wiped with diluted acetic acid. Sunken suede can also be treated with a mixture consisting of a teaspoon of soda diluted in a glass of warm milk.
