Sometimes we don’t even suspect that in our house we have not just a washing machine, but a whole piggy bank - mold, germs and scale. To increase the service life, as well as get rid of the unpleasant odor inside the washing machine - it is necessary to periodically clean it.

First, proceed to cleaning the door and drum. We take a rag or sponge and a bowl of warm water, wash the drum and door, as well as the rubber parts - the cuff, which is used for tightness. In order to get rid of the smell in the washing machine and your things you need to get rid of dirt in the cuff, drum and on the door. Contaminants form in the cuff and even small coins dropped out of the pockets of clothes can get into it. Wipe the cuff with a dry cloth after each wash.
The powder receiver should also be cleaned from mold, take it out of the machine and wash it in a basin or sink under the tap with detergent, and in hard-to-reach places we will use an old toothbrush. After it dries up - put in place. It is advisable to clean the powder collector once every 2 months.

The drain pump filter also needs to be cleaned, otherwise it will become clogged over time, will not let water through it, and over time the pump will fail. Traditionally, the drain pump filter is located at the bottom of the washing machine, it is closed by a hatch or a removable panel. A filter is necessary in order to filter all the pollution that may be in our things.
First you need to put a rag or flat container under the filter cover (stopper), as the remaining water will pour out of the filter after you open the cover. We unscrew the lid and remove the filter, along with adhering mold and other debris, washed with detergent. The filter must be cleaned once every 1-2 months, then everything will be in order with the pump.

Pour 150 g of citric acid into the powder compartment. We select the washing mode: 80-90 degrees for one and a half to two hours and start. Citric acid will remove scale deposits on the heating element and reduce power consumption. When a thick layer of scale forms on the heating element, this often leads to its breakdown, and the cost of a new heating element will be 30-40 percent of the cost of the washing “friend”. The heater is forced to heat up very much, scale prevents it from heating water to the required temperature. Accordingly, electricity goes many times more.

There are tips to replace citric acid with soda, but it’s better not to do this, soda is too aggressive for your washing “friend”.
