A wooden cutting board absorbs all kinds of odors from products much better than, for example, plastic or glass. In addition, particles of food that are invisible to the eye may remain on it. That is why it is necessary to carefully remove any dirt from such a cutting board.

To clean the wooden cutting board from small contaminants, use a regular sponge, dishwashing liquid and hot running water. But if you cut raw meat on a wooden board, this method will not work - more thorough disinfection is required here. Use a half of fresh lemon instead of a foam sponge: just wipe the surface of the cutting board with it, wait a few minutes and rinse it under warm water.

Lemon will not only effectively clean the board from the tree, but also eliminate unpleasant odors, and also help get rid of age spots.

Vinegar is another proven tool

Acetic acid can eliminate almost any unpleasant odors, and most importantly - kill harmful microorganisms on the surface of a wooden cutting board. Dilute a small amount of vinegar in cold water (1 teaspoon per 0.5 liter) and thoroughly wipe the surface of the board with this solution with a clean cloth, then rinse under running hot water.

Soda solution

In order to get rid of impurities on a cutting wooden board, you can use such a simple, and most importantly - affordable for everyone tool, like baking soda. Dilute 1 tsp. soda in 0.5 liters. hot water and spray the mixture over the entire board, leave for a while, then wash it thoroughly in the usual way. Instead of soda, you can also use hydrogen peroxide (the proportions for the preparation of the solution are similar to the first option).

A microwave is an unusual but effective method

This method will help you get rid of all kinds of bacteria on a cutting wooden board. It is best used after pre-cleaning the surface of the board with dishwashing detergent. The cutting board must be placed in the microwave and heated at maximum power for 1-2 minutes. Perform this procedure very carefully - in no case do not wet the board from the tree, as it is able to quickly absorb water and when heated in the microwave, it can simply break.
