Transplanting petunias into an individual container, as well as pinching its apical shoot, is called picking. This process is necessary to increase the area of root nutrition and their development. Pinching the top of the flower contributes to the formation of a lush bush.

Seedlings of petunias, individual containers, soil, water, fertilizers.

Instruction manual

1

Perform the first pick approximately three weeks after planting the seeds. A petunia should have at least two to three true leaves. Take for transplant a soil that contains a lot of peat: it is soft, loose, has high acidity. You can buy in the store a special primer for petunias. Fill the disposable cups with prepared soil and start diving. Pour the earth in cups and make holes. Their size: 1.5 cm in depth and 2 cm in diameter. Now, carefully remove the seedling with a lump of earth on the roots and transfer it to the hole. It remains to sprinkle the roots with earth, water again and it's done!

2

If you are planting petunias for a greater distance in the same tank, then bad seedlings must be thrown away. Let the plants have more space. After about a month, make another pick, as the seedlings will already begin to oppress each other. If you dive right away into a separate container, then a second seat will no longer be needed. After transplanting for a couple of days, shade the plant. In the early days, petunia seedlings are still very vulnerable: avoid drafts and too low temperatures.

3

Provide plants with constant watering with warm, settled water. However, make sure that the topsoil is not too moist. On such land, mold forms that destroys plants. It is advisable to water the soil with a light solution of potassium permanganate to prevent the formation of a "black leg". Sprinkle calcined sand over moist soil - this also applies to preventive measures against the "black leg". Instead of watering, spraying from the spray can be used so as not to damage the still immature plant. If part of the seedlings is still sick, then healthy plants are urgently transplanted into a pot with clean soil.

4

Petunia needs mineral fertilizers with a high content of phosphorus and potassium. Since nitrogen is responsible for the growth of green mass, they can be fed petunia already at the seedling stage. Ammonium nitrate is easily absorbed by the plant even at low air temperatures. And sodium nitrate works better at high temperatures. Phosphorus is necessary for petunias for better root formation. Potassium is responsible for flowering. For complex feeding, use a fertilizer with a high content of trace elements.

note

When diving into an individual tank, do not cover the growth point with earth. To do this, raise the cotyledon leaves slightly above the ground.

Useful advice

Unsterilized soil cannot be used for transplanting.
