A fabric with a pattern can be very useful for creating creative things from textiles (folders, notebooks) or even for decorating the interior. If you don’t have a knack for embroidering or drawing on fabric, there’s an easier way to transfer the design to fabric.

The picture you like must be printed (best on a laser printer). When preparing a picture for printing, do not forget that when transferred to a fabric, it will be mirrored. If there are words on the image, the image should be “mirrored” in “Photoshop” or any other graphic editor.

The procedure should be carried out in a well-ventilated area. For convenience, the fabric can be fixed with tape on a surface that is not afraid of chemical influences: for example, an old oilcloth tablecloth or glass.

The first way. The fabric in the place where you will transfer the pattern, thickly grease with white acrylic paint. Then glue the picture to the fabric, laying the pattern with the front side on the paint. It is necessary to smoothly, but gently smooth the image so that the picture adheres well and without bubbles. After that, apply another coat of paint to the fabric - this time from the wrong side. And hang the fabric to dry. When everything dries, moisten liberally and very carefully remove a layer of paper. The picture will remain on the acrylic paint on the fabric. To make the picture brighter, the image can be varnished.

The second way. Lay the printout on the fabric with the image facing down and moisten with nail polish thinner. Do not overdo it - cotton pads are best for this. Smooth the picture thoroughly by expelling air bubbles. Further, the drawing must be "rubbed" with a spoon in circular motions - carefully enough, but carefully so as not to tear the paper. Raise the edge of the paper periodically to check the image transfer quality. If necessary, rub it with a spoon for some more time, and if the solvent or nail polish remover has evaporated from the paper, it can be gently moistened again. When the translated image dries, it can be ironed from the wrong side - so the picture will be fixed. Now it can even be washed.

These methods may not work if your picture is printed on an inkjet printer or it is an image from a newspaper or magazine. If you do not have a laser printer, use the services of a photo salon.
Useful advice
Image quality will depend on which printer the image was printed on, and on the solvent (it is better if it will be without acetone) and on the fabric texture (the most suitable are smooth fabrics with a thin weave). If this does not work the first time, try printing from a different printer, a different solvent, or a different fabric.
