T-shirts are versatile clothing both in the summer heat and in cool weather. But white t-shirts need special care. And sometimes there are situations when expensive bleaches and powders with stains on white things can not cope. Or a snow-white T-shirt turned yellow or became grayish, while losing its former dazzling whiteness.

So that your T-shirt does not turn yellow and does not turn gray after washing, wash it separately from light and colored items. If it contains linen or cotton, wash separately from wool and synthetics. When washing in a washing machine, add powder bleach to the normal powder or pour bleach into the prewash compartment. Be sure to look at the packaging. These products should be suitable for use in an automatic washing machine and for washing white.

If you are afraid to use bleach, remember how several decades ago they dealt with the problem of bleaching white things. Boiling with whiteness was very popular at that time. This method is only suitable for you if your t-shirt is cotton. In 10 liters of water, add 500 grams of soda ash and 500 grams of bleach. Leave the solution for two days, then strain. Boil a t-shirt in this solution for at least two hours. But know that such a bleaching method leads to a quick failure of the fabric. And there are more gentle ways.

You can also bleach a T-shirt with potassium permanganate. Add a small amount of potassium permanganate in a bucket of hot water so that the water acquires a soft pink shade, and 200 grams of ordinary washing powder. Then, in the bucket, lower the already washed thing, cover with polyethylene from above and wait until the water cools down. Rinse the shirt thoroughly after this procedure.

The former dazzling whiteness of your item will help return the hydrogen peroxide solution. Fill a bucket or basin with warm water and add one teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 2 liters of water. Add a handful of soda. Lower the t-shirt into the resulting solution for 20 minutes. To whiten evenly, mix the item periodically.

Before washing, soak the T-shirt for a couple of hours in water with ammonia. It prevents linen from turning yellow and softens water. If the item is very dirty, add 3 teaspoons of turpentine.

To emphasize the whiteness of a T-shirt, use blue powder. Put it in 4 layers of gauze and put it in cool water. Remove the cheesecloth after the water is colored saturated. Then stir the resulting solution and dip the white thing into it.

Remember that a white thing can lose its color not only due to contamination, but also due to long-term storage. That is why dirty linen cannot be stored for a long time.
