The water that flows from the taps in the apartments does not meet the standards of drinking water. To use it without additional purification becomes simply dangerous. One way to do this is to install a filter. A water filter will remove solid impurities and harmful chemicals. In stores you can pick up these products for any type of pollution and on any wallet. But most filter models have the same cleaning method: changing the cartridge.

In order to change the cartridge, first of all, close the water tap, water should not flow into it during operation. If you want to avoid accidents, it is best to completely shut off the water in the apartment. A special key is sold with the filter for its repair and installation. With this key, unscrew the housing of the device and remove the bottom panel.

Remove the used cartridge. Check the condition of the rubber bands on the inside of the filter. They are installed on all modern devices, with the exception of mechanical processing devices. In working condition, the pads are soft and elastic. It is enough to pull out, wash and dry. If the gum has become hard and brittle, then they need to be replaced. You will not be able to tighten the bottom panel with faulty gaskets, and the untreated water inside the filter will mix with the purified one.

Rinse and dry the flask thoroughly. Insert a new cartridge instead of the one that is clogged. Replace the rubber bands. Put back the bottom panel, reassemble everything as it was. Remember to tighten the filter parts carefully.

In the same way, change other cartridges of the device. When done, start slowly opening the tap. Check for water leaking between the casing and the base of the unit. The presence of a leak means that the sealing gum is worn out, or you did not tighten the flask tightly. Correct this and turn on the water again.
Useful advice
In the event that you use a reverse osmosis filter, first pass clean water through the washed flask with a new cartridge. This must be done in order to squeeze out air bubbles that can damage the membrane. Conventional filters have no such problem.
