Proper shoe care allows you to enjoy its beauty and comfort for a long time. But do not forget that in order to keep boots or shoes in good shape, it is also important how they are stored during the period when they are not used.

You will need

  • - a clean cloth or sponge;

  • - shoe care products;

  • - cardboard or plastic storage boxes;

  • - newspapers or special paper;

  • - bags with silica gel.

Instruction manual

1

Prepare your shoes for storage. To do this, remove dirt from its surface with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not put shoes under running water. If you use a special shampoo for leather products, completely remove the foam with a sponge. Wipe the surface with a dry cloth. To clean shoes made of nubuck or suede, use special brushes or an eraser. Make sure the grooved outsole is clean. Between the grooves of the picture, pebbles, crumbs of marble or crystals of reagents that are used in winter can get stuck. The mechanical effect on the shoes will help remove these foreign bodies - just bend the sole slightly and they will fall out.

2

Remove the insoles from the shoes, if they are removable. Dry them. Replace with new ones if necessary. The inside of the shoe must be dried using a special device. There are two types of such devices. The first work like an ordinary boiler - that is, when heated, drain the shoes. The second - ultraviolet dryers - allow you to destroy the fungus and bacteria, as well as get rid of the unpleasant odor. Do not put shoes on the battery or in a hot, dry place - high temperature contributes to the formation of microcracks on the skin, deformation of the surface.

3

Thoroughly treat the surface of the shoe using a special product - a cream or spray of the appropriate color. If the product is made of composite materials, for example, with inserts of textile or leatherette, use the appropriate impregnation or wax - they will protect the surface from cracking.

4

To prevent closed shoes from deforming, place cardboard or plastic pads inside. If not, you can use newspapers or paper. Open sandals or sandals do not need such a procedure.

5

Place each pair in a separate box with a soft cloth or paper between the shoes. Some manufacturers provide special bags of nonwoven fabric or nylon for each unit in a pair, but you can buy them if you wish. Such a layer will protect the skin from sticking during long-term storage, as well as from unwanted staining, if the products are not monophonic.

6

In each box with demi-season or winter shoes, it is worthwhile to place bags with silica gel, which are usually available in the package upon purchase. This polymer absorbs excess moisture. Store shoe boxes in a dry, dark place.

Useful advice

If you store boots and high ankle boots vertically, place special inserts in the shafts that will not allow the skin to deform.
