Lay a nice rug just outside the door. After all, at the entrance to the house, after taking a couple of steps, a large amount of street dirt adhering to shoes will remain on the floor.

How to choose a rug? It should absorb water well, retain dirt and wash easily. You can verify its effectiveness if you vacuum the mat first on one side and then on the other.

Avoid washing freshly soiled floors. Better wait for it to dry and sweep or vacuum it. After all, dry dirt is easy to collect, and when you rub the dirty floor with a rag, then carry the dirt even further.

Sweeping or vacuuming? Now you can wash it. Take a damp towel, apply detergent to it and wipe the stains on the floor and walls. Then treat the non-washed complex stains with the same paper towel, pre-soaking it in vinegar.

To collect dirt and water from shoes, place some container in front of the entrance. At its bottom, throw an absorbent cork mat, paper, or even cat litter.

Get each child and adult in the family their own basket for shoes, a backpack, an umbrella, and more. It’s better to get rid of unnecessary newspapers and leaflets right away - they tend to stay in the hallway. Have a separate bin there for this rubbish.

Useful advice
At the entrance, hang a brush to brush away any dirt from your shoes before entering the house.
Put old towels somewhere in the closet near the entrance - with them you will wipe the shoes and / or paws of animals that have returned from a walk.
