It is possible to determine that bed bugs are wound up in your apartment for several reasons. One of them is footprints on bedding. They may be in the form of a smeared drop or be rounded. The color of such spots usually varies from saturated red to burgundy. These traces appear when the sleeping person turns and crushes the bug.
