When buying washing powder for an automatic machine, many housewives will certainly grab a descaler. Some are firmly convinced that washing cannot be done without it. But there are those who believe that it is quite possible to do without this supplement.

If you do not use anti-scale additives during washing, descaling the washing machine is sufficient once every six months. In this case, the heating element will not need to be replaced with a new one for a long time. Whether to add descaling agent during washing, the owners of the unit decide for themselves. But most of these additives do not play a special role - they only soften the water that gets into the machine, and partially dissolve the residue left after washing. The scale in this case, of course, is formed much less, but not because the product does not allow it to accumulate, but because the water is softer.

What are washing additives used for?

With the chemical method of cleaning the heating element (TENA), a special tool is used, which can be purchased at stores selling household chemicals. His work is that insoluble particles of the precipitate formed during washing are destroyed by the substances present in the additive. This helps the heating element stay cleaner. The main disadvantage of this method is the considerable cost of the chemical agent and the need for continuous use. By the way, when washing delicate things, it is better not to use such additives.

The washing machine has a special tray for powder, where a compartment is provided, and for descaling. Commercials vying with each other insist on the benefits of using such additives - if you believe them, then when using chemistry you will not need to repair the washing machine any longer. But saving in this way will not work - as practice shows, replacing a heating element in a car with a new one is cheaper than regular use of chemical additives. And if you wash no more than once a week, while choosing not the highest temperature, you should not be afraid of machine breakdown due to scale formation, since it will be formed very little.
