Opinions of beekeepers regarding the wintering of bees vary. Some argue that it is better to leave the hives in the snow, while others prefer to bring in prepared buildings.
Natural conditions
Leaving evidence on the street, the bees winter in the natural conditions that nature has prepared. Before the houses are covered with snow, they are insulated.
To do this, use:
- Styrofoam;
- foil polystyrene;
- cotton pillows;
- felt;
- roofing material.
For small families, internal insulation is used. Instead of the extreme frames, foam plates are installed according to the size of the frame. Such care keeps the heat inside the club, providing the bees with comfortable conditions and good ventilation.
The evidence is left in the usual places or compiled together. Top cover with slate or iron, so that moisture does not fall on the insulation. From the wind and frost fall asleep with snow.
