A geyser, namely a gas instantaneous water heater, is designed to quickly produce hot water for various domestic needs. But geysers periodically fail, and they have to be repaired independently, or with the help of specialist services.

The absence of a spark in a geyser often turns out to be so mild a malfunction that you can fix it on your own without having the professional skills in repairing household appliances and gas equipment. Moreover, most gas water heaters have the same operating principle and you can understand their work using the example of a specific model.

If the column has not been used for a long time, the cause of the lack of flame may be the accumulation of air in the gas pipeline. As a rule, short bleeding (1-1.5 min.) Solves this problem. If, before taking repair measures, the user several times tried to turn on the water heater, during these attempts the air exits itself.

If the geyser does not ignite, first of all, check the batteries, on which all the electronics and the piezoelectric ignition element are working. The easiest way is to buy new batteries and change them. In 90% of cases, this gives the desired result. Another thing is if the column is powered by a built-in generator. In this case, as well as if the new batteries did not help, check for sparks when turning on the speaker. It is entirely possible that due to a malfunction of the piezoelectric element or its power cable, the spark passes in the wrong place. Inspect the electrode and wire for external damage.

If external damage is not observed, check their condition with a multimeter. After checking the presence of resistance at both ends of the wire, you can determine whether it is working. In the event of an internal rupture, the device should show infinitely large resistance. If the cable is working, the reason lies in the piezoelectric element itself, or in the power button. Check the electrode contacts with a multimeter at the time of ignition. The presence of voltage will show that all details are operational, except for the piezoelectric element. If you have confidence in your abilities, you can replace it yourself with a screwdriver and a soldering iron.

Before replacing faulty components, do not forget to strip the contacts of the electrode, power cable and ignition button (automatic ignition control element). Rarely, but it happens that the voltage is not applied due to the banal oxidation of the contacts.

Geysers of the latest models with control electronics and power from the built-in generator are more complicated than speakers with batteries and with an ignition button. The difficulty in their independent repair is the difficulty of soldering and the inaccessibility of spare parts. If you have the skills of soldering electronic components and a good soldering iron, you can get to work. If not, it’s better not to risk it. Spare parts are best looked at by specialized workshops. In stores selling gas and water heating equipment, they are almost not sold
