A drop in the pressure of the supplied gas leads to a loss of boiler power (if in the house - gas heating), a decrease in the temperature of the coolant in the heating system and in the premises of the house. In such cases, the use of gas stoves also becomes problematic. Why did the gas pressure drop in the pipe? There may be several reasons.
Low gas consumption growth
Violations in the operation of gas house systems most often occur in winter. With decreasing average daily air temperature, gas consumption increases, which leads to a decrease in its pressure in gas pipelines.
Poor technical condition of the gas pipeline
Often during the operation of gas supply systems there is a reduced pressure of the gas supplied to the gas devices associated with the technical condition of the gas pipeline:
- corrosion of the inner walls of the gas pipe. Corrosive deposits increase hydraulic resistance, which leads to a decrease in pressure;
- water accumulated in places of pipeline subsidence or in a water seal;
- freezing of water or the formation of hydrates (compounds with hydrocarbons) in winter.
When saturated gas is saturated with water vapor, water begins to condense and accumulate at the lowest points of the gas pipeline. The pulsating flame of the switched on gas burners indicates the presence of water in the gas pipeline.
Gas leaks
Gas is supplied to the home gas supply systems under slight pressure, but despite this, leaks in the pipe joints, fittings and in the gas devices themselves lead to its leakage. Therefore, the operation of gas pipelines requires reliable maintenance of their tightness: the system must be maintained in a condition that excludes any gas leakage from gas pipelines and devices.
Most often, gas leaks:
- through leaks of threaded, welded and flange joints;
- in pipes having a hidden mounting or factory defect;
- in case of malfunction of gas control devices and fittings;
- through microcracks formed as a result of corrosion;
- if the gas pipeline is damaged during the repair of adjacent premises or during construction;
- through gas pressure regulators, automation devices for gas boilers (gas valves);
- through counters, filters and taps of gas appliances.
