Electric stoves are quite popular due to their safety (open fire is not used) and a wide range of models suitable for any apartment design. But, like other household appliances, they periodically become unusable.
Without the necessary skills in handling electrics and equipment, it is better not to engage in the search for breakdowns yourself, leaving this to the specialist. If you encounter problems with the operation of the electric stove, it will be useful to read or re-read the instructions for it. However, despite all the recommendations, the owners of stoves try to find and fix most typical faults on their own, so as not to waste money on the services of a master.
Major breakdowns
The most common reason an electric stove may stop working is a power outage. If neither the oven nor the hotplates are heated, the first thing is to check for voltage in the entire apartment (turn on the light), and if everything is in order, the state of the outlet to which the device is connected. To do this, you can use a special tester or, if it is not, simply connect another device to a "dubious" outlet to find out if it is working.
In some cases, the stove is installed during repair, and it is powered by a stationary cable hidden in the wall: in this situation, there is no outlet. Then check the electrical distributor. Modern devices of this type are located together with the electric meter and have several switches that are responsible for supplying current to different parts of the apartment. Thus, during a power surge, "plugs" do not fly out in all rooms, but one or two levers snap out. If some of the switches are in the wrong position, you should correct the situation and check the operation of the stove again.
Perhaps, during the initial inspection, it turned out that everything was in order with the electricity in the apartment. Then the failure of the electric stove can occur for the following reasons: the power switch is damaged; burned out heating element; the current supply wire has gone inside the device itself. Correction of these malfunctions should be entrusted to the master, since it is impractical and even dangerous to inspect all the contacts, elements of the mechanism and, moreover, disassemble the plate without being a specialist.
