Which is better, siding or brick
Siding can be of two types: metal and vinyl. If the house is sheathed in metal, its durability will not yield to brick. Vinyl can be deformed due to skewing of the frame or shrinkage of the house, cracking from mechanical stress or large hail. Both types of finishing materials - siding and facing brick - are environmentally friendly.
If the climate in the region of residence is such that the air humidity is predominantly elevated, you should choose a quality brick, since these stones are hygroscopic. What can not but affect its operational properties: wet brick is not able to retain heat, but it perfectly transfers cold. Therefore, for such conditions it is better to opt for any siding: metal or vinyl.
When facing a wooden house with a brick, waterproofing of the log house should be provided. For this purpose, glassine is often used, which is placed between a wooden wall and a brick finish. But such protection is short-lived. Over time, the paper will lose the properties of the waterproofing, and condensation will inevitably accumulate in the space between the two walls. Therefore, professionals are inclined to believe that facing a wooden building with a brick is not the best solution.
Siding has several undeniable advantages: it does not absorb moisture, is much cheaper, its installation is faster and less time consuming. Metal siding is fireproof, as is brick. From the rains and other rainfall on the brick, whitish and yellowish stains can remain, which does not decorate the building at all. Siding is quite simple to clean with a regular soap solution. But this is rarely required: the rains wash such a finish well and no additional cleaning is needed.
