Carpet or carpet on the floor in the kitchen sometimes seems like a good solution. It helps to create coziness, it is pleasant to step on it even with bare feet, and if there are small children in the house, some people think that it will be much more convenient and safer to crawl along the carpet, and for games on the floor, while mom is cooking, the carpet seems to be preferable cold and hard laminate or even linoleum. But, if you think about it, the carpet in the kitchen will bring the hostess much more trouble than the benefits.
Carpet attracts dirt
It is known that the kitchen and bathroom are perhaps the most "dirty" places in the house. If in such rooms as a hall or a bedroom, the main problem is dust, then in the kitchen there is also added high humidity, as well as additional sources of pollution (food, water, etc.). A soft and fluffy carpet, as if specially created in order to accumulate pollution, and to avoid this, with all desire, will not work.
During cooking, small particles of food inevitably fall to the floor during grinding products, drops of water fall on the carpet when washing dishes, microscopic particles of fat settle on the pile during frying, and even the most accurate housewife is not safe from a drop of sauce that accidentally falls on the floor.
Thus, a carpet or rug, laid in the kitchen, needs to be thoroughly cleaned daily, and with the use of additional cleaners. Firstly, it takes a lot of time, and secondly, even with the most gentle care, daily cleaning will quickly lead to the carpet losing its appearance and having to be replaced.
Some people use jute rugs in the kitchen - they can be washed, but they also have to be taken care of daily.
The carpet absorbs odors
It is known that odors last longer in fleecy surfaces, namely, hairiness is present in any, even the most “short-haired” carpet. And if it is still possible to remove contaminants from the surface, it is much more difficult to deal with an ingrained smell.
Even with a good extract, food odors absorbed by the carpet during repeated cooking will be absorbed into its pile, creating a unique, but not the most pleasant “bouquet”.
Flavoring the kitchen using various means and daily cleaning, of course, can solve this problem, but only partially. The carpet, lying in the kitchen for a long time, will certainly smell not the best way.
