In order for your flowers to bloom beautifully and on time, you need to know when to plant them, how to care for seedlings and when to take them out into the open. In the open ground from a large number of seeds, only a third part is usually pecked. Therefore, it is important to plant flowers with seedlings, so as not to lose part of the plants. Seeds of decorative flowers can be planted in spring and autumn. In autumn, they prepare the soil for flower seeds: make peat, humus, a little manure and sawdust. It is loosened and seeds of frost-resistant flowers (cornflower, sage, calendula, chrysanthemum) are planted in small holes. Large seeds are planted immediately in the ground in spring, which are not afraid of temporary cold (chamomiles, marigolds, border asters, hibiscus). Seedlings often plant those flowers whose seeds are small and sprouts are weak. Seedlings are planted on flowers from late January to May. In January, you can plant carnations and tuber begonia; in late February - early flowers that bloom in early summer (viola); at the end of March, seedlings are planted on most summer plants - annuals; and at the end of April you can plant marigolds, begonias, dahlias, annual chrysanthemums. The latter plant so late because they sprout and bloom very quickly.

In order to plant flower seeds, purchase small pots for seedlings. Before filling them with soil, rinse under running water. And having filled with the earth (sand and peat), pour them with water. The next day you can plant seeds. Make shallow grooves in a pot of soil where sprinkle large seeds. Then cover these seeds again with a layer of earth. Small seeds of some flowers can be mixed with sand and then scattered on the surface of the soil. Pots with planted seeds close with a plastic bag and put them in a warm and shaded place.

Due to the increased humidity under the bag and a certain temperature, the seeds will swell and “wake up”. After a while, the first shoots will appear. Cruciferous seeds will germinate faster (4 days), and the seeds of phlox, snapdragon and many others germinate from 10 to 20 days. You can take into account some of the nuances for the rapid germination of seeds. For example, if you put pots with petunia or purslane seeds into the light, they will sprout faster, and verbena or phlox loves complete darkness.

As soon as the first shoots sprout, open the pots, let the plants "breathe". After a couple of days, you can completely remove the polyethylene from the pots, and move the seedlings to the windowsill. Make sure that the sun does not fall on them, otherwise they will stretch out. Water the seedlings as the earth dries, so that the delicate roots do not rot. As soon as the summer weather normalizes and the soil warms up, take the flowers out to the flowerbed. Plant them the way you want, but make sure that undersized plants do not close higher. Water the flowers sparingly without wet and rainy days.

For flowering, most annual plants need 80-100 days after germination. Add to this time a few days (3-5) for survival in outdoor conditions. If you correctly calculate the time and plant the flowers on the street in time, then by the end of summer you will get a beautiful flowerbed. Perennial flowers do not bloom in the first year after planting, so you should not rush into their seedlings. Seedlings for perennials can be planted immediately in open ground in May - July, and in the fall they can be transplanted to a permanent place.
